Update on Sep 17I haven't updated my blog for so long as I didn't have time at all. The work has never ended...till now...only it is a bit less busy. Today I added many new albums (Barcelona trip part I and II, new place in Bennekom, mum and bro in Europe part I and II) and this blog.
Now I am back home in Thailand again after about 7 months in Holland. It felt so fast for me.
Well, there are a lot going on with me.
To begin with, I am now graduated. I just got my MSc in International Development Studies at Wageningen University and Research Centre, the Netherlands. I finished my thesis which consists of two articles. One has already been accepted for a peer-review journal and another is being submitted (so still more work to come). I got a ten for the thesis. My professors sent my thesis for the best thesis award of the university. I plan to go to a conference in Peru in 2008 to present my paper (yes, again more work to do). And I am sending off job applications and trying to get some interviews.
Ok...Come back to the story. I went to Barcelona with Laurent (as you can see from the pictures) on Aug 9-15, 2007. It was a wonderful trip that we could spend so much time together. We went everywhere and do evenything together. We have been close. Park Guell, Sagrada Familia, museums, beautiful fountain at night, La Depreda, Casa Battlo, La Rambla, the beach, etc.. are places we visited. I have leaned there what Tapas actually is...and we also had delicious seafood meals. It was such a lovely memory there. I will never forget.
After I came back from Barcelona (Aug 16), I moved my stuff to a new house in Bennekom. However, I had to stay at Lisa's house. (Lisa is actually my professor but somehow we got very close during the time in the field in Thailand so we are more like friends or sisters.) I had to stay at her house and take care of Ruby (Lisa's puppy). Ruby is a very active dog but she is also a very cute puppy. Laurent and I walked her and took care of her for 5 days while Lisa were gone back to the US for a holiday. Actually, it was also very nice staying there. :)
After that five days in Lisa's place, I moved into my little hut. This little hourse connected to the garden is still in Bennekom. I am indebted to Charlotte, Vera (Charlotte's mother, the owner of that little house I rented for a month) and Johan. They have been so kind. I have this place so that when my mother and brother visit they can have a nice place to stay and also Bob's has already sold his house where I used to live.
I really like staying in this little hut as it is very private and cosy. I can have nice dinner with Laurent every evening and that part I also enjoyed the most. I was happy I could spend nice time with him before I have to leave...
My mother arrived Holland on Sep 3rd. I showed her Holland and Wageningen....Unfortunately, only the first day I lost her while we were biking together but luckily she went back to Lisa's office and asked her to call me on my mobile.
I went with mum to Den Haag and met Laurent there. Then my mum and I went to Brussel for two days (Sep 6-7) then came back to meet up in Maastricht with Laurent, his family and my brother who just arrived Holland and traveled directly there. We stayed in Limburg from Sep 8-11. Laurent's mother hosted us and she has been kind as usual. She showed us around the area.
Sep 12 was our packing day and Sep 13 we went to Amsterdam.
It was special but very tight schedualed. My mum, bro and I left Holland on Sep 14.
It was very hard to say good bye to Laurent but I am so sure that we will manage to meet again somehow.
I miss you a lot... |
